Son of Yoash. He avenged his father's murder but spared the murderers' children, as written in the Torah of Moshe; he crushed Edom in the Valley of Salt, then challenged Yehoash of Israel and was routed at Beit Shemesh — Jerusalem's wall breached, the Temple treasures carried off. He died, like his father, by conspiracy.
